Parenting after a Loss

XP: Family Days Ideas

Alright ladies - that's it, I'm always going to be soooo busy that I won't have time for TB other than maybe once a week (though I hope not!).  Geessss, the last two weeks have been busy: doc app., family app, Easter (I drove SIX hours that day!) D:

And though today was busy, too - DH, DS and I, went to the Mall of America and actually enjoyed some family time (we've only been out twice "just for fun", and both times DS has been asleep). Today was the first time he was wake for the whole thing, and DH wasn't a scared sissy that DS would scream and get us kicked out of anywhere :P

BUT it made me think - what are some local (preferably free) activities you all do as a family? I don't mind going to MoA a few times a month, but it's so tempting to window shop - and then spend too much!  Plus, what really can I do with a five month old?? :D

Thoughts?

  • We live 5 minutes away from one of the bigger parks in town. We've taken our dog to the dog park and just hung out for a bit. Now that he's getting a little older, we may take advantage of the few weeks of comfy weather and do a picnic on the weekends whe

  • Como Zoo is fun when it's a tad warmer out. They are open year round. We've been going to Maple Grove community center (not sure where in MN you are...) swimming & they have an indoor play place maze, both have a infant /toddler section but cost a little

  • Once summer is here, you could check out music in the parks. I know there are often concerts going on at the Como Pavilion, and also Lake Harriet Bandshell. Those are nice, family friendly events that you don't need to worry about LO fussing/disturbing

  • We go to the conservatory... it used to be free, and now it's just a couple of bucks. And I'm thinking next year we'll for sure get a zoo membership. It's less than a hundred dollars for a whole year and you can go as many times as you want!

  • Thanks for all the replies ladies :D

I don't think I even thought of *half* these suggestions, so I better get my butt moving in the research department, and see which activities sound good to DH, too :)

    Thanks again!
