Intro and Question- Moving Toddler to Big Bed

Hi everyone!

I have a 23 month old, but thought I would go ahead and join this board since my baby will be 2 in 27 days (as the bump was so nice to remind me of *sob*).

DH and I are seriously talking about TTC again and I am already losing sleep over our babies' sleep situation. My 2 year old's "big girl" room will also need to function as a guest room when we have company. Right now in the guest room, we have a day bed with a trundle that converts it into a King Sized bed. I worry a little about her sleeping in this big of a bed; there are large spaces between the mattress and the bed because of the curvature of the bed frame. (It's sleigh style) I'm not sure if a full size bed will be big enough for my 6'2 dad when he and my mom visit, but that was a thought that crossed my mind.

I'm looking for suggestions and advice. Has anyone else had to multi-function their toddler's room into a guest room?

    I like PP's idea of putting a toddler bed into the room.  Or, you could order an inflatable railing to use for a while  Either way, you have some time to move her so she would be closer to 3.  We moved my older DD when I was 7 months pregna

    Thank you hocus! Great advice and a great reminder. I am definitely a planner to the extreme. I had my little girl's 1st birthday planned before I even that knew we were having a girl, lol. :)

    That's great to know BeanNut! That's kind of my hope, to move our toddler into her new room before the baby comes so that maybe it won't feel like she's getting "kicked out of her room" just because there's a new baby in the house, but is getting a new

    We moved DD when she was about 2 and a half into a regular twin bed and she had no issues at all.  Not once did she complain about it or anything.

    I'd wait. DS was in a toddler bed in our room until he was almost 3. We moved him to his own room  then, when he was almost 3 and just before DS2 was born, and started experimenting with him sleeping in the big bed shortly after DS2 was born. DS2 was

    We are expecting in June and put a day bed in with the crib. My 2 year old just moved to a twin bed and has had no issues.
