How long past your DD

will your practitioner allow you to go?

For some reason I thought it was 2 weeks at my hospital, but it came up at my appt yesterday and my OB said its only 1 week. I'm not totally sure how I feel about that quite yet. I'm not changing docs, and home birth isn't an option, so eventually I'll have to come to terms with it. Hopefully it won't be an issue though!

  • Seeing as how they can't make you do anything, you can go as long as you like.

I plan on keeping this baby in as long has it wants to stay, as long as all tests show it's fine.

  • My OB was comfortable letting me get to 41 weeks and 3 days.

Thankfully I went into labor at exactly 41 weeks. I was scheduled to be induced 2 nights later.

  • My OB prefers not going over 41 weeks.  He said if I really did not want to be induced, he would consider 42 weeks, but I would have to go in for daily fetal monitoring and non stress tests.

Not to mention, I had a 8lb 2oz baby last time at

  • I'm surprised by how many people are saying 1 wk overdue. I'm pretty sure the norm on my last bmb was 2. I was induced at 40w 5d for high blood pressure so I'm not really sure how long I could have gone. I hated the induction process with a passion though

I wouldn't worry about it too much right now.

Nobody wants to be induced, but we all want healthy babies.

  • My OB induces after 1 week past due date. She said that the placenta starts to deteriorate and no longer provides the quality of nutrients it did before. After one week the deterioration becomes exponential as time progresses.

    this.

  • At 41 weeks, my office will schedule your induction. The latest they will go is 41w5d. If you insist on going over that point, you have to sign wavers and agree to a monitoring ultrasound every other day.

I do not want to go over my due date,
