will your practitioner allow you to go?
For some reason I thought it was 2 weeks at my hospital, but it came up at my appt yesterday and my OB said its only 1 week. I'm not totally sure how I feel about that quite yet. I'm not changing docs, and home birth isn't an option, so eventually I'll have to come to terms with it. Hopefully it won't be an issue though!
Re: How long past your DD
Seeing as how they can't make you do anything, you can go as long as you like.
I plan on keeping this baby in as long has it wants to stay, as long as all tests show it's fine.
Thankfully I went into labor at exactly 41 weeks. I was scheduled to be induced 2 nights later.
My OB prefers not going over 41 weeks. He said if I really did not want to be induced, he would consider 42 weeks, but I would have to go in for daily fetal monitoring and non stress tests.
Not to mention, I had a 8lb 2oz baby last time at

My BFF has a MW (and two kids) hers didn't let her go past 41 weeks. Luckily she didn't have to be induced.
I wouldn't worry about it too much right now.
Nobody wants to be induced, but we all want healthy babies.

You can always try discussing the issue with the OB as well. This was a really good article and you can find several research articles including the ones cited in it..

With DS she said they didn't want me to go past 41 weeks as a FTM. I'm not sure if that will change as a STM.
DS was 15 days early so it ended up not being an issue.
Last time I was considered high risk because of thyroid problems so they didnt want me to go more than a few days past my DD. When I was checked the day after my DD I was already dilated 3 cm and having contractions so they augmented my labor with a sm
