Toddlers: Whole or Skim Milk?

Seeing the post below referencing offering cows milk to older babies reminded me of this article I read a few days ago. It's about whether there is actually a health benefit to switching toddlers from whole milk to skim. Enjoy!

  • Thanks for posting that-it was a good read! We're whole milk/real food people anyways. I prefer the taste and I think the body needs some fat. It's nice to see some research on our side.

  • I wonder if the correlation actually goes the other way- kids that are heavier are recommended to drink low fat milk and kids that are slimmer are given whole milk- not that the milk makes them heavy or slim.

  • We are whole milk fans in this house adults and all. You don't need to avoid healthy fat to maintain a healthy weight. I think the low fat milk for kids movement is going to do more harm than good personally.

  • DS1 is 3.5 and he's still on whole milk. I guess it means we won't need to change once DS2 starts drinking milk.
