MOTN Feeding

DS just turned 5 mos. Hes a pretty good sleeper....goes down in his crib anywhere from 730-8 and even if hes awake he can fall asleep on his own. But he still wakes up around anywhere from 1 AM to 3 AM  for a feeding. Is there a point when this feeding should be eliminated ? I hear him rolling around and when he actually starts whimpering I go in and feed him. Should I be waiting longer to see if he falls back asleep?

Re: MOTN Feeding

  • Have you ever tried leaving him for 10 min or so to see if he goes back to sleep, or giving him a paci to see if that helps? I say give it a shot! If he still wants to nurse, he'll let you know :)

  • DS didn't drop his night feeding until 6 months. Some babies don't until after a year old. There isn't a special point in development when babies just start STTN. When he wakes up crying, and you can tell he's hungry ,feed him. When he stops being hungry

  • I don't know. It could just be a habit now so I'd try other things before feeding. My pedi said after 6 months they physically don't need to eat at night so I stopped offering it then.
