1st half marathon

This Sunday is my first half marathon. I'll be 17 weeks, my ob has approved as long as I listen to my body etc.. I had done 2 11 mile runs and was planning 1 more long run and then tapering. My training was going great until last Tuesday when out of nowhere I developed plantar fasciitis . I've not run since and it's almost back to normal. If on Sunday my foot feels good I will be racing but I am nervous about not running for almost 2 weeks before the race. These were supposed to be taper weeks but still I'm worried. Should I try just a short run this week o test my foot? Any advice or suggestions? Thanks

I'd do a really easy short run just to see how it feels (3 miles?).  It will also help to flush out any stiffness that comes with not running.  You've put the training in, so I wouldn't worry about that part; your fitness may have only declined

  • I agree with th PP, just a short run to test it out.

I have done a 2 mile run the night before my 2 halfs last year because I was so nervous.  This year I signed up for the 5k the night before.

  • I would most definitely try a short run...just to see how the foot feels.
