We put him in underwear 3 days ago and he has only had 2 successful attempts at going in the potty and only while standing up like his brother and daddy. He hates sitting.
He fights and screams every time I try to tell him it's time to sit in the potty. Even when we offer him rewards, encourage him and are easy going about it.
I'm thinking this means he's not ready? My first son was trained at 27 months and it was a lot easier. He didnt fight it. I'm just feeling pressured because we are having another baby in July and he is registers for preschool in Sept where he must be potty trained.
I don't want to push him but is it doing more damage to throw in the towel after 4 days of learning? I back off when he says no to the potty but its stressful watching him every second, hovering and fighting with him. For both of us. I don't want to make him hate it so I'm wondering if we wait a bit, if it might be easier for him? I can't make him go if he doesn't want to!
Do you think he "should" be trained by now? Is 31 months behind?
Thanks for any advice !
Re: 31 month old DS fighting potty
We are going through something similar with DD. We are 3 days in and she wouldn't sit on it and just kept wetting her underwear. So today, we took the underwear off and put the potty, on a towel, in the middle of the living room. Now
