We just installed the safety 1st easy fit 65 (Guide 65) We had to put a rolled towel under it to make it sturdy at and tight at the belt path. Is it normal to lift at the back when you pull up on the top back of the car seat?
Yes.. You shouldn't be able to move it more than an inch any direction with your non dominant hand if you grab it where the belt or latch enters the carseat... So the front side part.... Rf carseats are designed to roll forward like the way you describe
Actually, making it "too sturdy" isn't a good thing. You want to follow the instructions for installation and not add anything to the seat. During an accident the seat is made to move a little to lessen the impact it had on the baby.
Warning
No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
I agree with PP however - if you need the towel to get the right angle then its a totally find modification.. you could hop over to car seats for the littles on fb or carseat.org website and there are techs that can help you (with pictures or in person)
The top moving is ok but you want very minimal side to side movement. The top should move to allow for impact in case of an accident. That is directly advice from the car seat clinic I went to twice.
Re: Safety 1st Convertible Car seat
How did you install this? We just got one and cant figure it out. What are all the straps with the linking metal parts? How did you install it?
I know it is probably something easy, but we couldn't figure ours out.
