I saw my doctor a couple days ago since my diagnosis a few weeks ago and asked about additional ultrasounds, additional doctor visits and my concerns about a big baby. He said that since my numbers with my nutritionist are good and I am not on insulin as of yet, nothing changes. The only measuring is with a flexible ruler at my checkups, which is what they did when I was pregnant with DD. I don't even have another checkup until I am 35 weeks (still going only every 4-5 weeks). I go through Kaiser so maybe that's just their policy but I was wondering if anyone else was in the same boat as I am?
I am trying to look at this as good news...that it tells me my risk is low and whatnot but I can't help but worry about the nonchalance of the practice. I apologize posting in a high risk board when I have such little intervention. I feel awkward but I know this might be the best way to reach out and see if there are any ladies in this same boat?
Re: Anyones doctor NOT really do anything additional with GD?
Yes, I have been with two different practices for each pregnancy and neither one did any additional ultrasounds or NSTs because I am diet controlled. With my first I had one additional ultrasound and NST AFTER my due date just to make sure my flu
I'm on once weekly appointments, and growth ultrasounds and BPP every 2 weeks. I also have other risk factors to take into account besides just my GD, and would have had the ultrasounds either way.

I had no additional interventions (NST, ultrasounds, etc) with my daughter's pregnancy. This time around I did get a "growth ultrasound" at 33 weeks which showed baby was average sized but I had extremely low fluid and that's when my NSTs and ultrasoun

My OB is pretty much like this. I do take Glyburide to control the numbers because the fasting number was consistently over 100, but that's been the only change.
And because I'm a repeat c/s she didn't require a growth u/s.<span style="font
I am pretty sure the measures your practice is taking, is standard. I am diet controlled and my numbers are always on target with the occassional number a little high...I've never gone over 140 since I've been diagnosed...they dont do anything extra. I
