He's been on antibiotics for over a week now and we've been trying to manage his reflux better.
I think what happened for us what that his ears were mildly infected (just a bit red not too bad) and it caused him to not want to eat. Instead he just drank a ton of milk which he then refluxed and was very uncomfortable on top of that.
This past weekend his appetite is increasing and he's eating more table food again and drinking less milk and his head slamming and crying fits are lessening. Today he only had 1 when he couldn't wake up from his nap (which was probably a combo of crankiness, etc). For over a week now he refused to bite anything. (normally I hold a sandwich and he takes a bite and eats it) and today he had a peanut butter sandwich and bit it.
The past 2 nights he hasn't woken up absolutely screaming. The only reason I didn't think they were night terrors is that he couldn't be comforted. It was like he was trying to crawl out of his own skin. He's still moaning a bit at night (last night he did it a couple of times in the beginning of the night) but he's sleeping much better.
He finally seems to be getting back to himself. Hopefully it was just this minor ear infection compounded with the reflux.
Even the PT noticed how much looser he is and how high his tone was the past week and a half. Like he was just tense and uncomfortable and that he wasn't himself. She said he had a great session today and that he seems to be back to his normal demeanor.
Re: F/U to DS's head slamming
I am glad for you! The self-harming stuff is hard. Also I had meant to ask - DD is not yet 2 and for her rule out of GERD v EoE they have her on 11mg of Prevacid twice a day. I know you said your son was getting 15mg - was that by dose or daily?
