Babies: 6 - 9 Months

7 month old suddenly screams when put to sleep at night?

Ive never had any real problems with my baby with napping or sleeping. She loves to sleep. But this past weekend we went to my husbands dad's place for the weekend. He lives over 3 hours away. Usually my LO goes 2 to 2 1/2 hours between naps. She can sometimes push 3 but she gets really difficult to put to sleep at that point. Well we left after she had been up for awhile and she didn't sleep at all in the car so she as pushing 6 hours of awake time once we got there. So I tried to put her to sleep but she screamed her head off I guess cuz of an unfimilar place. (weve been there twice before no problems.) So I let her cry it out some hoping she would just fall asleep from exhaustion. I waited 5 minutes, went in, 7 minutes went in, 10 minutes then went in and she just cried more and more. My husband eventually just went and laid with her until she fell asleep. Well weve been back two nights now and last night she would not sleep at all. Maybe 30 minutes to an hour each time. And cried and cried. Now tonight about 1 hour and 45 minutes in to putting her to sleep and she is in her room right now screaming her head off still. I go in about every 3 or 4 minutes, hum to her until she calms down and then leave. The second I turn to leave she starts to cry and when I keep going she really lets loose. I don't know what to do! Any advice? I heard just letting them cry it out for too long give the trust and abandonment issues. Do you know why all of a sudden shes like this? Naps times during the day she is fine. I dont get it. Please help!

  • She's not going to have trust and abadonment issues from letting her CIO.

However, there's a good reason she's crying. She was in a completely different environment than she was used to and her routine has been disrupted. I would just be patient

  •  I know listening to a baby cry for even a few minutes is hard to handle, but sometimes it can take closer to 15-20 for them to settle themselves down. There have been a few nights when W cried for 30-45 minutes before giving up and falling a

The only other thing I would suggest is that maybe she has an ear infection?
