Plan own baby shower?

No one has offered to throw me a baby shower yet and I keep reading that the momtobe isn't supposed to throw her own shower. My MIL lives in the same city as us but I only have one close friend here and my sisters all live far away. I really want to have a shower but feel like it's weird to ask someone if they're going to plan one for me? Should I just go ahead and start planning one anyone or wait and see?

I agree with PP. Never ask nor pay for you own Baby Shower. Just because no one has mentioned throwing you one, doesn't mean someone isn't planning a surprise baby shower.
