Babies: 6 - 9 Months

When do they take less milk?

I know the primary source of nutrition for a baby for the first year is formula or breast milk, but at what age do they start to reduce the amount of milk they consume in a day? I was just noticing some people's 7 and 8 month old feeding schedules and with a lot of them, baby only took a bottle four times a day. Mine still nurses twice a day and gets three bottles at daycare. And he occasionally still nurses at night, too.

  • DS takes 24oz a day of BM at 8 months old.

I would just follow his cues. He'll let you know when he's ready for less. Every kid is different.

  • I've always been told that when you introduce solids, it COMPLIMENTS the milk instead of replacing it.... so they will consume the same amount of milk but just gradually increase the amount of solid foods. We introduced solids about 3 weeks ago and he nur
