FF / Bottle fed babies - How many ounces does your DC eat?

I will preface that DS is a big baby. He is 19 weeks old and his intake of BM & Formula in 24 hours is about 49 ozs. It seems extreme, but I don't know. He is 18lbs. Just thought I'd ask around on here for comparison. I pump for BM most of the time, so I can tell what he is getting for the most part. I nurse occassionally.

ETA: How far apart are feedings on average?? He takes 6-7 ozs at a time.

  • Wow. That's a lot. Your pedi is ok with that? I'm supplementing and Benjamin is getting about half BM and half formula with each feeding. He's taking in about 30 ounces. My LC said BF babies should be around 3035. She also said I could cut him off if he i

  • That's what I thought. I used a formula online to get an estimate of an intake range and it was within range for his size. My DH took him to his 4 month appt so I'm not sure if they discussed much.  I will put in a call to be sure.

  • DS is getting about 12ounces of bm per day, and about 24ounces of formula.  So, that's like 36ounces per day. Plus, I do about 2ounces of formula with oatmeal, but I don't know how much of that he actually eats versus getting it all over himself..

  • He spits up a little, but nothing major. The pedi hasn't expressed any issues about his size. He's about 90th percentile for weight and 65th for height. When he started daycare, I think they overfed a bit to compensate and keep him happy. He does demand t

  • My little guy is about 4.5 months and weighed just over 15 lbs at his 4 month visit.  he eats 6 oz every 3 hours.  But sleeps 11 - 12 hours through the night.  he is getting between 28 - 32 oz during the day plus 2 oz used to mix his oatmea
  • My LO is a big guy also - was 19 pounds at his 4 month check up two weeks ago....he is exclusively FF now and takes approximately 30 oz per day.  He takes 4 ounces every 2 -3 hours during the day,  In the evening, he will drink up to 8 o

  • That's a ton! I would definitely check with your pedi because I had mentioned something to my pedi about reading somewhere that it was possible for babies to drink 48oz (which I thought was a lot)  and he said in a 24 hour period that is outrageou

  • Ok, I talked to my pediatrician and they said to keep feeding him what he wants. They said his size isn't a problem or they would have mentioned it. It's probably a growth spurt and he will start sleeping through the night again once it is over. She agree

  • My DS is 18 lbs, 7 oz and is exclusively formula fed. He was taking 6 oz per feeding but then he seemed kind of disinterested at the end of his bottle so I went back down to 5. He eats every 3 hours so 3540 oz per day.

  • My DS was 16 lbs at his 4 month appointment.  86th percentile height 70% weight. He eats on average 32-35 oz per day. Every 3 hours during the day and sleeps 10 hours. Each bottle is about 6-7oz and he is formula fed. He is eating some solids about 1
