Med free and tearing

I went med free but didn't tear with DD2. In the event that you do tear, do they administer some sort of numbing agent before the go to town on your lady bits? I remember them massaging my belly to help deliver the afterbirth and thinking how that hurt worse than delivering the baby, I couldn't imagine getting stitched with no meds. Just curious.

I got some local injected before she did the stitches, but honestly, your adrenaline is so high and you're looking at your new baby - you hardly notice.

I am planning on an epi but if I can do it without I will. So I asked my dr about it and she said oh Yes they will do some local numbing.

Yes, the meds are called a pudendal block. It is just like the shot you get before dental work.

17 years ago in my birthing class, the woman teaching had said if you start to feel it to let them know so they'll give you another shot. I couldn't imagine this being true but she said that sometimes the doctor would say things like "It's just one mor

Wow!! Thanks for the advice. The last thing a women wants after child birth is to feel stitches in her vaj.

I went natural and had some tearing. The midwife numbed me before sewing me up but it definitely still hurt. I was also just uncomfortable from having my feet in the stirrups and just wanted to be able to get up and move a little.
