How does it work with doctors at the hospital?
I realize we all have our doctors that have priveleges at the hospital, but what happens when someone gives birth and their doctor isn't there?
I keep hearing these birth stories of babies who are ready to be born and the nurses tell mom not to push b/c the doc. isn't there to catch the baby. Um, what do they do when the doc. isn't even close to getting there, put duct tape over the cervix?
I'm guessing this is another insurance/legal issue but it's super annoying.
Re: Prob. super dumb question.
I guess they would call in the doctor on call.....
There is usually a doctor on sechedule at the hospital I'm pretty sure
Okay, so I guess my final question is, why don't they do that in the first place instead of telling a woman to wait to push until her OB gets there?
Usually it takes awhile for moms to push, so they have time to get to the hospital (the doc that is).
However in my case I know the nurse was there as I HAD to push, and my doc wasn't there yet but was on the way. But she was telling me if I could hold back I should wait.
