Why do I feel like there are a slew of people finding out the sex of their baby before 18-20 weeks?

I still have another month to go....*sigh*

Those of you who did elective u/s, what was your reason? I'm assuming you'll have an anatomy scan closer to 20 weeks to make sure your baby is healthy, correct?

I found out during an appt regarding a UTI - but my doc does quick scans at every appt unless I'm just stopping in to get blood drawn. I didn't even know they could tell gender before 16 weeks via u/s!

I will find out in Thursday, but its not an elective u/s. I am considered high risk so I will get more ultrasounds than a normal pregnancy would have.

An elective for us would be $250 so we will wait. We don't find out until 20 weeks 6 days, so not unitl May 9th!!! 5 1/2 weeks, but I can't wait and am so excited to see our growing baby!

I don't live in the US. As long as you're not going to a government doctor it's the norm here to have an u/s at every visit. It's not something I had to go out of my way to have done. I would have had to have gone out of my way to opt out.

For us we were at our genetic testing appt and the doctor was able to tell us. I think more people find out earlier now due to the genetic testing. We're not 100% yet, only because it's early so we aren't getting excited until our Harmony tests come back
