Date eaters?

Jennery, was it you who found the research that eating dates four weeks before the due date might help speed up delivery?

Well, I've been trying for the past week or so and - bleh! Dates are gross. I've tried raw and filled with cheese, wrapped in nice proscuitto and baked and they still are the worst part of my day.

Anyone else trying this little trick and found a way to make them more appetizing?

  • I assumed dried dates were ok?  Maybe not?  They are so darn sugary, I can only handle about 2 of them plain, but I rough chopped a few & sprinkled them in a salad for lunch on Saturday, and chopped some to put in oatmeal for breakfast

  • I've been having a 'date shake' for breakfast every morning. It's the only way I can stomach that many of them and it's actually really good. I use six dates, one banana, milk, ice and plain yogurt. The plain yogurt part is really key because it cuts the

  • I am the odd one out - I love dates.  Especially fresh raw dates - I was allergic to chocolate as a kid, so that was my candy... I think if you do not really like them, chopping them up and adding them to oatmeal, or apple crisp, or baked goods helps

  • Organic Medjool dates, I love.  But they have to be organic.  The regular ones taste like crap.

I get them from my local co-op and just take the pit out of them and eat.  Sometimes I replace the pit with a pecan. Yum.

  • haha, I thought this post was going to be about whether people ate less food when they were out on dates. Which I was going to laugh about, because I will eat more in front of my husband than anyone else. Although now days, I can't fit too much in my s
