side air bags

So I hope this dosent sound dumb, but how do I know if my airbags are deactivated or activated? I just bought a pre-owned car a few days ago and it is 3 yrs old. Do newer cars not have them in the back/sides? I guess I could check with the dealership but sometimes I wonder how reliable people are over the phone. I def. have to check into this.

    It probably has them. You can look by your rear seatbelts to check.  I'm not sure if they can be deactivated.  FWIW the carseat tech at the fire station told me that the latch positions in the side positions are where they are to avoid the bags.

    For the front air bags, there is usually a light that comes on when the airbag is not active. When you start the car, the airbag warning light should come on briefly and then turn off (to show that the light is functioning). I'm not sure when side curt

    Many airbags (but not all) are labelled where they are located. Like a stamp on the passenger front dash saying that underneath that plastic panel is an airbag. In my vehicle, they are labeled on the pillars as to where the side-airbags are.

    I'm sure the car manually has that information as well at what car seats are approved for rear side installation in your new vehicle
