GTKY Easter Edition

How do you celebrate your easter holidays? Do you celebrate the religious aspect, is it all about the easter bunny and egg hunts, or is it just another day you don't really celebrate but cash in on the chocolate sales on Tuesday?

I come from a Christian household (not very strict since my father is an athiest), so we grew up waking up early to do a quick easter egg hunt, then got dressed, went to church with mom and grandma, came home and had a big family dinner with more easter gifts from the aunts/uncles/grandparents.

Now that I live on my own with DH who is athiest it will be more about the chocolate. I'll do what my mom did and let my daughter choose what she wants to do. If she wants to learn about the religious side and make up her own mind, that's what we'll do and I have no problem taking her to church on my own like my mother did if she wishes.

I also endulge in the Tuesday chocolate sales ;)

  • It's just us this year. We are going to do Easter baskets when the boys wake up. Then DH is making breakfast!!! We'll go to Church and in the afternoon we are making bunny cupcakes.
  • Raised Roman Catholic but not a very religious family, we never went to church on Easter. My husband and I are Buddhist but love the family time of Easter.

We got the baby a basket with DVDs, books and a stuffed bunny and have bunny ears for her

  • I was not raised with religion but we still celebrated Easter and Christmas, they were just very secular, gift giving opportunities.  Personally I've always thought of them as holidays for kids, so we will be celebrating both with lo, although as an
  • I'm pagan and DH is more of an undefined spiritual. So for us Easter is all about the coming of spring and fun and family time. When LO is older I'm sure we'll talk about Ishtar, and the story of Jesus, and the more religious aspects of the holiday so he
