Pregnant after a Loss

Avoiding the doctor, too scared

I didn't know how else to title this. When I got pregnant with my loss I went to the OBGYN right away. With DS they made me wait until week six but when I called the day after my BFP that time they told me to come in so I did. Of course the line was super faint so they ordered betas. For the next 3 weeks I lived in stress. Twice a week having them tested because at first they were too low and then too high. I was so scared and worried that I lived in fear since the doctor kept asking me if I'm sure i'm not bleeding. By the time we got to my 2nd ultrasound I just knew something was wrong and I was right. Then I went through 10 months of testing and surgeries to figure out that my dc caused my cervix to scar over.

SO. I'm afraid to call my RE. I just got my BFP a couple days ago. Am I crazy for wanting to wait another week or two before calling? I don't want betas, I want to go in, have an ultrasound and see a heartbeat.

Nothing says that you can't wait for your first appointment. If you think that betas will make you stress, you don't have to have them. Do what works for you.

Sweetie I am sorry you are so stressed, however you could have a perfectly healthy pregnancy in there and if you don't go to the RE you may miss the fact that you need progesterone supps or something else. You need to do justice to this pregnancy just

I know you're scared but it really is in your best interests to alert your RE to the bfp now. Talk to the RE and let him or her know of your apprehension about betas and see what they suggest.

And this might or might not be helpful - but there a

No, I don't think you're crazy. I got my BFP just before Thanksgiving and I decided the last thing I wanted to do over the holiday was to worry and stress over it. I was already on the protocol medically that I needed to be since we had decided it would s

I do not have a known progesterone problem. I'm seeing an RE because I had to have surgery to repair my cervical stenosis. I like the suggestion of taking it one day or one hour at a time. Today I am pregnant and I love my baby. Thank you ladies, it's nic

My girlfriend waited a month before calling. It was around the time of when her daughter was born (she had a diagnosis and didn't live long) so she waited.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that you're perfectly ok waiting a week or two to go in.  Even if progesterone levels are low, there is no evidence that taking a course of progesterone will make a difference; it's an outdated practice, a
