Trying to Get Pregnant

if you have natural gas, come in...

that is in your home, not your bum :)

i have never had it, and we now have gas logs, gas furnace, and gas water heater.

how much does this usually set one back per month? I know the rates vary depending on where you live, but i just want a ball park :)

TIA.

Re: if you have natural gas, come in...

  • It also depends on the age of your home.  Older homes typically aren't insulated as well and tend to use more to keep it warm (coming from someone who lives in Chicago where its 8 degrees).

  • I think we do! haha, all i know is our heating bill was $144 last month
  • We only use gas for hot water and the stove. We use about $35 a month.
  • Our electric/gas/water bill is together. Our gas during summer is $0 and electric is $90, well we got our first winter bill this month and the electric was $70 and the gas was $150, and we keep the heat in our house on 68. ?We were so shocked by the high gas bill! I live in the mountains in TN so it is fairly cold.
  • in the summer, like nothing. it's like $20. easy. the winter is when we get our big bills. closer to $150 and up. but the electric bill is down in the winter, so it evens out.

  • Our bill was a whopping $158 last month.  But our home is a turn of the 20th century triple decker & we live in a expensive state.  Needless to say on my "to do" list this weekend is putting plastic sheeting over the windows.  I only have the heat set to 62; I shudder to think what it would be if I kept it @ 70!

  • Our gas bill for November was $145, but for December I'm expecting it to be in the $200 ballpark.

  • I stay on a budget plan all year, about $80. This covers heat, hot water and cooking. It's pretty darn cold in the mountains of WV and DH is a total sissy when it comes to the cold.
  • Ummm Wow you guys pay alot.  LL my bill during the summer is usually about 20 dollars, just for the hot water heater ( most of that is a service charge just to have it in the house)  Last month, for 10 oct thru  10 nov it was $45 we used 18 therms.  I live in a 1956 house(1600 sqft ranch) near ST Louis , we just put in great new windows though. and we keep the house at 65.

Our electric bill is usually about 30 btw (300 and 350 Kwh) dollars.  We heat and hot water on gas and everything else is electric.  We have an AC but rarely use it so we never use more than 30 dollars for our electric.

bwhaha. Thats why I moved from Illinois, 12 years ago :)

  • There are so many factors that go into this that someone else's usage doesn't really matter to you.  Sq. ft., age of home, climate, etc.

we just signed up for the budget plan this month because our bill jumped up 100 dollars, but one of our neighbors pays $400 for gas in the winter! gah!?

    Yep. Us too.

  • I live in RI, so we have full 4 seasons.  It varies from season to season...very low in summer ($20-$30), middle-ground in spring & fall, and higher in Winter (as high as $200 on occasion).

Im praying our 2004 town home yields us a lower payment per month because of the energy efficient stuff it has, but I just didn't want sticker shock when that first bill came.

  • I also live in RI.  New England may be pretty in the winter but the weather sucks.  That & we live in a 100 year old triple decker.  Plus you get the sh!t taxed out of you here.

  • Eep. I never saw a gas bill before... 90% of FL is electric, but I feel the need to chime in. :D We're about $150ish in the winter (we turn off the A/C on some nights, cause ya know, 65* is freezing)... and we're about $225-250 in the summer.?

Do you all prefer gas over electric?

  • Well, I am in Texas and we use the gas for the water heater, stove, and dryer only - not sure how much this is going to help!  But, we pay like $25 a month.
  • Our lasst gas bill was 125. The one before was 80. We keep our heat at 67 and usually put it down to 65 at night. We also have gas stove and water heater. In the summer the gas bill was 10-20 but electric was higher because of A/C.

Tess: I prefer a gas stove 100x over an electric. Not sure about differences in water and heat though.
