I haven't used Dreft or the Target brand, but you do not have to use "baby detergent". Any detergent free of fragrance and dyes is safe to use...much cheaper too!
Dreft is a total scam. It doesn't do anything special to your LO's clothes, and the smell is strong and awful. Just use regular "free and clear" type detergent (Purex, Tide, All, store brand, whatever) and save yourself the $.

Dreft is crap. They make it smell nice and slap a picture of a baby on it and everyone suddenly thinks it's the only detergent suitable for babies, when the opposite is more true. Dreft is full of chemicals, dyes and artificial fragrance, which is not som
I use dreft for DS's clothes and plan to use it for this LO's too. He is just fine, never had a rash or reaction to clothing and his clothes smell so good! I'm interested in hearing how the target brand works for you!

I looked at the ingredients in dreft and I was not impressed at all. Might as well use normal detergent. I bought ecos and it had one or two ingredients total

I've used it and I like it.. I've washed everything for this baby in it. i also washed everything in regular Tide when my son was NB (he's now 4) and had no issues.

ETA Dreft puts things in their detergent that I certainly don't want on my childs' skin.
