Anyone have MTHFR gene defect?

My RE did not test for this, but I'm working with another dr. for lyme disease and she tested for it. I am positive for a double copy of one of the genes.

This defect is very common and means that you can't process folate properly, which can cause multiple miscarriages and/or infertility (among other potential problems including limited ability to detox sufficiently). It is found in most autistic children ironically.

So the solution is to take folate/folic acid in a form that the body can process, as we know that folic acid is a must in pregnant women. (Though I haven't been pregnant in the 3.5 yrs trying).

So if anyone has this, I'm looking to know what amount of the B vitamins are you taking? I also want to talk to my RE about this to see if they are familiar. As I understand it, not all drs. are versed in this.

    I am a carrier for it and DH is affected.  My RE has us both taking 2 mg daily of folic acid (its a prescription) in addition to whatever is in our daily vitamin (PNV for me, Men's vitamin & fertility blend for DH).  We don't take any additi

    Feb'12- July'12-testing(all clear minus slight arcuate ute), 3 IUI with clomid all BFN
    8/30IVF#1 Antagonist protocol- ER 9/11-8R, 7M, 5F. 
    ET 9/14 2 embies transferred. 1 10cell Grade 4, 1 8cell Grade 4. No frosties. BFN
    IVF#2 Antagonist protocol plus baby aspirin- ER 12/5-16R, 12M, 8F!
    ET 12/10 5dt! 1 fully expanded blast & 1 early blast. No frosties. BFN
    3/13 hysteroscopy & polypectomy, Consulted w Dr. Kwak-Kim.  
    DX: High NK cells, cytokines, DHEAs& PAI1;  hypothyroid, +APA, restricted bloodflow
    7/13 IVF#3 Long lupron protocol with PIO, Crinone, Prometrium, and vivelle
    (plus synthroid, metformin, baby asa, metanx, PNV, Vit E, D, calcium, fish oil, CoQ10, IVIg infusions and lovenox per Dr. Kwak-kim)
    ER 7/19 14R, 11M, 9F(4 natural fert, 5 with ICSI)
    ET 5dt 7/24 2 fully expanded blasts.  SURPRISE 3 FROSTIES!!!
    Beta #1 8/2 335!!!! Beta #2 829!!!  1st u/s 8/14 showed TWINS!!!!!

    After my second loss they tested me for this.  I'm compound heterozygous, which means I have one copy of each mutation.  My doctor has me take the regular PNV that has 1gram of folic acid and a Rx called Folgard that gives around 3 more grams

    BFP #1: 2/15/12-Ectopic/Mtx at 6 wks
    BFP #2: 10/12/12-m/c at 5 wks. 
    BFP #3: 8/27/13
    Me: MTHFR, Low AMH (1.1), High NK cells and Antiphospholipid Antibodies.
    DH:MFI-Low morph (1%), DNA fragmentation: Excellent!
    5 rounds of clomid, 3 IUIs, and multiple non-medicated cycles- BFFN                                                      
    IVF with ICSI in August 2013 brought us our babies.  ER-9R, 7M, 4F w/ICSI  ET of 2-Grade 2 blasts. 
    + HPT at 6dp5dt. #1 (8dp5dt)- 105    #2 (13dp5dt)- 510  #3 (15dp5dt)- 960  #4 (17dp5dt)- 1889
    Dx shortened cervix, PTL, and preeclampsia during pregnancy.  Lots of medications and 13 weeks of bedrest, babies were born healthy at 34w4d!

    I am taking a prenatal, and RE prescribed Folgard as well.
