Teachers! (PR)

When did you tell your students? I teach high schoolers and in a few months it won't be hard to tell that I'm pregnant. My students know that I have four children at home and some of the girls have even babysat for the smaller ones.

  • I have fifth graders.  Both times I told them by playing hangman...Mrs. ---- is going to have a baby in April.  They loved finding out at way.  Then I sent a note hi e to parents about my plans (time off, sub, etc.)

  • When I was pregnant, I was teaching middle school. I was about 15 weeks before I said anything to students, and they were already whispering about it behind my back because I was in that "is she getting fat or is she pregnant" phase lol.

  • I hit 12 weeks right after school ended, so I didn't get to tell them. By the time fall came most knew when school was starting. If they didn't already, they could tell :

  • I told my fourth graders on the last day of school. I was just barely in my second tri, so I really didn't have to, but I knew they'd be surprised after summer if I didn't. I showed them a sonogram on the projector, and one or two with younger siblings kn
  • I teach high school and never made any sort of announcement either time. Eventually it becomes obvious and one bold student will ask.

  • I teach high school and told them right before summer break, I was 11 weeks. Some of the girls were already suspicious by then. Plus, I didn't tell my principal until then either.
  • I had kind of a weird situation. I was long term subbing for 7th graders that I had taught in 5th grade. They all knew me very well. After I had my nt scan around 12-13 weeks I came in and asked them, "wow, have you noticed how fat I've gotten?" All of th

  • I teach HS science and I have yet to tell my kids.  I'm waiting for the brave one to ask so I can say "NO, why???" and watch their faces.  hahaha...JUST KIDDING.  No, I just haven't told them yet b/c I don't think it's really necessary.&nbs
  • The funniest thing about it happened after I came back from leave. The girls get their growth and development talk in the spring, and I picked up a note from one of them a few days after it that said, "She MUST have! She just had a baby!!" I died.
  • I actually couldn't tell my students until the administration drafted a letter to the parents. The letter stated when I would go on leave, who the sub was, their qualifications, and when I would return. It also reassured the parents that I would still

The school had a note in our March newsletter about my pregnancy - it went out when I was 18 weeks. I never specifically told the kids, in fact, there are probably some kids who still don't know. I don't find it necessary to make a big announcement. I
