April 2013 Moms

Impatient and frustrated.

I am not due until april 18th. I have been in pain since christmas with absolutly nothing anyone can or will do about it. The day before I hit 37weeks they told me at my appointment that I was measurng at 41 weeks. So they did yet another ultrasound and the tech said he was only like six and a half pounds. They said if he gets too big I would have to have an C-section. I was like six and a half is not big and even if he gains one pound a week for the rest of the time he will still not be bigger than my first son. I just moved to this town and I absolutely hate the hospital. The first thing they told me was that unless the baby is perfectly positioned head down they do a C-secition. Now they are telling me that even though I have delivered a large baby before that they wont be able to. I just want to go back to my hospital which is four hours away because this one is just stupid. They didn't even check to see if I was dialated at my 37 week appointment. They also still make you pee in a cup at every appointment which my old hospital stopped doing during my last pregnancy, not only do you pee in this cup but then they make you carry it through the halls to your room which is just weird. I know I sound ridiculous complaining over little things like cups of pee, however; it has been one thing after another with this hospital and it seems like they are just itching to send you in for a C-section which I know is not the end of the world but its no what I want unless completely needed. A nine and a half pound baby is not too big to deliver naturally. I am also in so much pain that I can't even take care of my 16 month old the way I would like to because it hurts to bad to even get down and play with him. I feel like a bad mom because he is also not feeling well and I can hardly pick him up to snuggle him when he is upset. I don't know what to do I feel completely helpless.

  • Sorry you are dealing with that!! For what it's worth, I'd totally be weirded out about the pee thing too. My dr has two offices and at one of them they have stalls so you have to carry the pee cup out and put it in the box next to the sink and even that

  • The csection thing would bother me but not the pee cup or cervical checks. I have to bring my cup of pee with me in my purse and my OB doesn't do cervical checks until 40 weeks.
  • The csection stuff would make me crazy. I hope there is a way you can advocate for yourself and your baby so you have the delivery you want.

The pee thing, yeah, it's weird you have to carry your cup around, but I think at this point in your

  • You can refuse a Csection unless you or your baby's life is in danger. I would refuse it unless during labor a complication occurs.
  • Is it your hospital's policy not to delivery large babies or your doctor's policy? Can you have a frank discussion with your doctor and basically say you are going to refuse a c section unless there is a real emergency?

  • I am due April 15th, and have been experiencing tons of hip pain as well. Unfortunately, my doc says there's not much that will relieve the pain except delivery.
