D&C or Wait and See

Last summer I had an ectopic pregnancy and was given a shot of methotrexate. That didn't work and I had to have surgery to remove my right tube.

I got BFP #2 in February. They've been watching me closely because of the previous ectopic. I went in a week ago this past Tuesday and everything looked great and we got to see the heartbeat. I was measuring 5w6d. Went in yesterday (10 days later) for a follow up and only measuring 6w1d and no more heartbeat. I've had no signs or symptoms.

The doc explained the D&C option, or said we can wait and see if my body takes care of this naturally. I'm just not sure what to do. On the one hand, there are a lot of benefits of just getting it over with with the D&C. On the other, women have been going through this for thousands of years without medical intervention, and there is a risk, no matter how small, every time you go under anesthesia.

Has anyone had the unfortunate experience of doing both? Anyone opt for one and wish they'd done it the other way?

So sorry for your loss. I had the exact same feelings as you, I had never had surgery and did not even want to consider it. I went home and waited it out for a week, and then decided surgery was the way to go. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I've had both. The d&c was really a piece of cake. For this m/c I opted for another d&c, I just had it yesterday. After the effects if anesthesia wore off I felt pretty good. Occasional cramping but I was up and cleaning the house a couple of hour

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a mc in jan and I chose not to have the surgery. I felt a lot of closure from letting my body mc on its own. You just have to decide what is best for you. Positive thoughts coming your way.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've had both. The downside (for me) with the D&C was that it took 9 weeks to get my first period afterwards. Otherwise, it was an easy recovery. I chose to let things happen naturally this time
