3rd Trimester

S+TM water breaking question

I'm a STM mom myself. My first baby came at 41w5d with my water breaking but no contractions. I was started on Pitocin after waiting about 4-5 hours for contractions to start. I went in to the hospital this morning at 38w2d after having what I thought was my water break. I was told that it was my forewater that broke and my doctor didn't want to induce me because baby is still high and I'm not dilated. Has anyone else had their forewater break prior to labor? If so how long until you really went into labor after it happened? Thanks in advance. It's been an emotional day and I'm really hoping to meet my little girl soon.

  • Never heard of "forewater" but I wonder if that's what my sis experienced with her #2 daughter; she had her water break (quite a bit of water too) and went in, and they said there was still an intact bag of water too?  Either way she did go into l

  • My forewater broke with my second (not everyone has a forewater, for the PP who had never heard of it). I was 39w 6d and GBS+ with a history of quick labor, so I went right to the hospital. I had some contractions, but nothing that would have sent me to t

  • Forewaters are the part of the amniotic sac between the baby's head and your cervix.  Though as far as I'm aware forefathers breaking are the same as your water breaking, though the baby's head can "cork" it.

  • With both of my kids, my water broke (1st time the OB broke it, 2nd time it broke while in labor) and then when they did the next internal they noticed a forebag, broke that and labor progressed VERY quickly.  So mine was sort of the opposite as y
