Getting ready for the Antagonist Protocol - 1st IVF - NERVOUS

Hello ladies, I am getting ready to get off of my BC to start the antagonist protocol. This is my first round of IVF w/ ICSI and I am EXTREMELY nervous bc I don't know what to expect. I also don't know if I should be doing PGD or not. I have a genetic counseling session coming up next week which will determine whether or not I'm a Fragile X carrier!!

I'm 32, AMH is 1 (was 0.41 and 0.8), FSH and all other hormones are normal. Also have slight hypothyroid.

Any success stories out there? Advice? Anything???

  • I just want to say welcome - I'm sorry that you have to be here, but I hope your first cycle goes smoothly.

If you are a carrier of Fragile X, your genetic counseling appointment should help you understand your options better as far as doing PGD

  • Good luck with your upcoming cycle. We are doing PGD and the genetic counseling appointment was very informative.

Do you mind if I ask if you did anything to help with getting your AMH up to a higher number? Just curious!

  • ***Ticker Warning***

I have elevated FSH and did my first IVF with the antagonist protocol and ICSI in Dec/Jan.  We did not do PGD.  I got pretty severe OHSS, but I'm pg, so it was worth it.  Details in my siggy.

    *Everyone Welcome*

  • We didn't have any specifics we wanted to test for but because of my recurrent losses we did pgd testing for all our embryos.  We had 11 successful 5 day blasts and after pgd we ended up with 8 good embryos and three that were not good genetic makeup
    Me (29) DH (34) married 11/24/2007 TTC for 2 1/2 years 3/11 9 wk m/c d&c 6/11 ectopic pregnancy methotrexate 11/11 5 wk m/c 6/12 5 wk m/c 8/12 hysteroscopy followed by several rounds of close monitoring and clomid 1/13 ER 18 mature, 15 fertilized, 11 after 5 day growth, PGD testing 6 girls, 2 boys 2/14/13 transfer of two embeds 1 girl 1 boy 2/25 beta --171, progesterone low 9, changed from suppositories to pio 2/27 beta #2--392, progesterone 21.9 yea it's working!
  • Honestly, I think doing the AMH testing right in the Dr.'s office is what made a difference. b/c the longer they wait to send it out the lower the AMH will be. that's what my dr told me. Also I have low Vitamin D levels so I started supplements: Vitamin D
  • afsalinas---just wanted to say good luck with your pregnancy!! that's exciting! I hope we have the same type of response.
