Multiples

First trimester HCG levels indicate multiples?

HCG is over 9,000 and we're only on day 35 of the pregnancy. The average HCG reading for this time period is around 4k and the high end of the normal range only goes up to 6 or 7k.

I've read somewhere that high HCG levels could indicate multiples... is this true? Thoughts?

  • No it is not true.
  • The only way to know for sure is via ultrasound.

My early ultrasound to confirm multiples was done at 6.5wks.  Babies don't look like much at that stage but you can see heartbeats and whether they share a sac or have their own.
