BTDT moms, or others... Protein in urine...

Hey,

Yesterday my doc mentioned that there was some protein in my urine and that she wants to keep an eye on it. I didn't really think about it at the time, but now I'm getting a little nervous that it could be a sign of pre-eclampsia. For anyone that has had protein in their urine... was it usually nothing, or does it lead to other problems? I need to step away from dr. google... he's just getting me nervous. :-p

  • Towards the very end of my pregnancy last time I had a little sugar and protein in my urine. Take your doctor at his word. If there was a reason to worry he would tell you straight up that he was concerned. Breathe. Don't google!

  • With my first pregnancy I think there was test that showed up with a little protein in my urine. The midwives mentioned and noted it but they weren't too concerned. I know I was over the halfway mark in my pregnancy. Nothing came of it. Followin

  • I had it towards the very end of my pg at one appt.  My blood pressure was fine so my OB wasn't really worried about it.  Didn't turn into anything.

  • My sister had protein in her urine at a few appointments and she did develop pree eventually. However, many women have it show up once or twice without any further issue, so fx that will be the case for you.

  • You can have it from being dehydrated. Sometimes it happened to me last time around if I had my appt in the afternoon and hadn't had enough to drink. The keystone of pre-e is high blood pressure, so if your BP is fine, you can relax. Trust me - docs don't

I generally have some protein in my urine. However because my BP is always awesome, they don't make a big deal about it.

If the BP wasn't okay, than they would look more closely.
