Toddler screeching

Give me hope? I googled it and everything that came up was talking about it being a phase for to 1.5 - 2.5 year old set. But my 13 month old has just taken to it. Oh lord it's ear drum busting!! Will it really last for another 1+ year? Anything I can do to stop it? Someone suggested whispering to him and I haven't had the change to try that yet.

Re: Toddler screeching

  • We try to ignore it if he's doing it for attention, and remind him "inside voices" as appropriate. Your DS is a bit young for that though. It's dreadful, isn't it?

  • DD turned 2 and with it came the screaming for fun. I ignore it most of the time, but if it is super loud I say "Shh inside voices, we don't shout"

  • Haha those are hilarious stories! Can't wait till he talks :)

OK, I guess I will just hope REAL HARD that it "goes" more than it "comes". I am finding that I totally love this age SO MUCH...except for that. We were at a play group yesterday with&

  • We either ignore or remind him about inside voices. At that age, though, there wasn't much we could do. It goes in waves but he's more or less over it now. Also, he learned about being quiet at daycare whenever they threw him in the infant room to even

  • We went through a horrible screeching phase around 9-10 months.  It was awful and of course he was way too young to understand "no" so I just drank to combat it.  ;)

Now, at 16 months, he has started up with the yelling again, but at le

  • Ignore? Is that why there are so many screeching children lately? Do you realize how horribly annoying this is to other people? Hopefully when they start you take them outside of a public place?

This one is at the top of my pet peeves

  • I 'll post on Monday, away for Easter.
  • Ignoring is our tactic as well. It seems to last a lot longer if we pay attention to it. It was the same with teeth grinding.

It's horrible though. It literally makes my eyeballs hurt.
