Gap Return Policy?

I bought a sweater for myself at Gap after Thanksgiving. They cashier asked if the receipt in the bag was fine and I said yes. When I got home the receipt was not there. Anyway, I wore the sweater for a couple of hours the next day for family pictures then out for a quick dinner following. When I got home the sweater looked like it had been worn for years. Little fuzz balls all over and just plain ratty. I put the sweater away and kind of forgot about it but now I'm just annoyed. I paid $38 for something I was able to wear once. I tried to get the fuzz balls off with no luck.  Since I don't have a receipt and it has been worn, Do you think this is something I can return or just cut my loss and move on? We buy a lot at Gap and have never had any problems in the past.

Re: Gap Return Policy?

  • Did you pay with a credit card? Some places can look it up

  • They might give you a merchandise credit for what it is worth now - so if it went on sale or something you might not get all of your money back.  BUT it is worth taking it in so they know that you are unhappy with their product.
  • Thanks ladies. I used my Visa debit card so hopefully they'll be able to look it up. A merchandise credit would be great. I'll take it this weekend and keep my fingers crossed.
