So, this is long and super boring, but you might find it interesting if you have PCOS.
PCOS has been kicking my asss for almost 3 years now. I've probably always had it, but I've been on the pill since I was 13 so the symptoms never came around (BC is the best treatment for PCOS). I went off right after our wedding and immediately gained 20 lbs. Like, immediately as in two weeks. I wore a dress on the plane to our honeymoon, and it didn't fit on the way home. And I worked out every day on our honeymoon and didn't eat like crap and didn't have any alcohol. It sucked.
Once I gained the 20 lbs, my periods got all random and messed up, and miraculously I got pregnant after five months. I had a m/c at 8 weeks because my progesterone was very low. I then didn't have a period for three months. Finally they diagnosed me with PCOS. By "they" I mean my PCP, my GYN, a fertility specialist, and eventually my RE. Then I had some months of Provera, followed by two rounds of Clomid, and DS is here now!
Anyway! I was breastfeeding and still am, so OB put me on the mini pill. The PCOS was still in effect and I did not lose a single pound in the 6 months I was on the mini pill, despite working out 5 times a week and eating obnoxiously healthy. I had pregnancy induced gallstones and had my gallbladder removed, which meant I ate basically no fat for two months after, and I GAINED weight. WTF.
So at 6 months pp, OB put me on a low estrogen BC, and after I'd been on it for a few months, I started to lose weight. Today I weighed myself and even though I've been eating kinda crappy this week, I still lost two lbs. I'm now officially at my pre-pregnancy weight and still losing! You can't beat me PCOS!
