nails

When can I start to clip his nails? At the hospital they said to file the nails, but that did not work so well.

  • Haven't had to yet but the pediatrician actually recommended biting them. He said its much easier then trying to clip them.

  • This may sound gross, but I chew his off while he is nursing... It works pretty well and I won't cut him like I did when I did try the clippers :(

  • Baby nails are so soft and thin that you can also just peel them. But like others have posted, biting them is easy too.

  • you can whenever. just use baby clippers and be careful not to cut the skin. I still file DD's, but DH is very good at it.

  • I personally think biting nails is just gross thats just me I clip the very edge of Luke's nails and then peel them off its way easier that way. Or they peel right off after a bath.

  • He's a little over 3 weeks, and I've clipped his nails twice already. I waited til he fell asleep the first time so he wasn't squirmy.

    SAHM to DD1 (7), DS (5) and DD2 (1)
  • I filed for the first 6 wks or so, then switched over to clippers.
