Not a great appointment

Today was our 31 week appointment and also a follow up from our growth ultrasound that was at the beginning of this month. At our last apt my belly was measuring large so they ordered a growth scan to check baby boy.

He is around the 70th percentile for growth which Dr said was okay but his belly is in the 93rd percentile. She said that typically babies born to mothers of GD have bigger bellies and shoulders. But I passed my glucose test a few weeks back... guess who gets to do it again? This girl!! Joy.

I'm freaking out though that his belly was so big comparatively. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm also nervous because if his shoulders are growing too large as well then we will need to plan a c section. I guess if I need a c section I'd rather it be planned but this is all so overwhelming to me with only 9 weeks left. I really thought after passing the glucose test it would be somewhat smooth sailing until labor hit! I guess I was pretty naive!

  • I am almost 36 weeks and just found out the similar info. I had to go for my 2nd glucose test today. I'm still hopeful to deliver without csection, but however he gets here will be okay as long as he's safe.

  • Neither really, I had to fast for 8 hours and then draw blood. Then they asked me to go eat something and come back after two hours to get my blood drawn again.
  • That is interesting you said this about the belly measurements.  I passed the glucose test too and my baby's belly is measuring about a week and half ahead of all they other parts.  I come from a long line of women with GD, so I found it odd tha
  • I had a similar thing happen with my second - DS.  He was measuring really big, so they had me take the one hour GD test again....and I passed again.  However, you can have a big baby even without GD.  Even though I had my DD vaginally,

I'm interested now about measurements. I was told that my LO probably jumped from 40something percentile to 70something percentile between scans because his

  • Good luck! Often ultrasound measurements are off too. My first DS was born just shy of 35 weeks and was 8 lbs 2 ozs. My second DS was born at 38 weeks and was 10 lbs. I didn't have GD either time or this time. And I had easy vaginally deliveries with both

  • DS had several ultrasounds in the 3rd tri. He always measured almost exactly like your baby. I didn't have GD either. He was born vaginally on his due date and was 9lbs. even. From 1st real contraction until he was in my arms was 7 1/2 hrs. (average for a
