Not so 'motherly'?

Sorry this is my second post today, but I really need to ask if I'm the only one who is like this.

Ok, so when people come up to me a the grocery store (small community, I know everyone) and they say things like "OMG, don't you just LOVE being a mother?" or "Isn't it just the BEST feeling EVER?" I just nod and say "Oh yes."

Thing is, I like being a mother just fine, but I'm not all melty like everyone else seems to be. I love my daughter, and it's an advernture every day, watching her grow and change.

I by no means feel that I'm depressed at all.  I've just never been a super emotional/sentimental person.

Is anyone else finding this? Or maybe I'm alone in this?

  • Nope. You are not alone in that. I totally felt that way after my first. It was great, but it wasn't the ohmyGodraptureutterdelight that some say it is. But now with my third; it is exactly that. :) I think you have to grow into motherhood, just

  • I know exactly what you mean. I love my children more than anything and would do anything for them. But I don't get all mushy and I don't feel like exclaiming how wonderful motherhood is to every lady in the grocery store.
  • I feel like the "don't you just love it" stuff happens when the reward is a little greater.  I mean, don't get me wrong, newborns are lovely and wonderful and I love mine so much, but at this stage you're also sleep deprived and not getting much i

  • I feel the exact same way. I also am not a super emotional person, so I'm not proclaiming the joys of motherhood either. I do think that as they get older and can interact more, it will be much more fun. I never really understood why people would say "Isn

  • I felt the same way after my son was born and now after DD. It's like I didn't connect as much right away. My son is now 15 months and oh my God I just can't believe how much I love him and how many things he does makes me cry and get all mushy. I am just

  • It's 2 p.m. and I'm still in my pajamas. I haven't brushed my teeth. I've seen more daytime TV than I care to admit, and I smell bad.  I haven't been able to leave the house alone for more than two hours in 8 weeks.  I love my son more than anyt

  •  I feel the same way, I respond honestly... Like, "I guess..." When was pregnant it was the worst when people would ask "aren't you excited?!" And I'd say, "we'll, I'm pretty freaked out actually" or something like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not d
