Torn on family mn or not.

Both of our DSs have family middle names Isaac Levi [Levi being my brother] and Ezra John [John being a paternal GG name and DH's mn]. As a child of the 80's, my mn is Marie and I've always disliked that it was just chosen because it sounded pretty, but that's exactly what we're considering doing with DD.

One of the names we're thinking of is Miriam Elise, Elise has no family tie and just sounds nice. The family mn would otherwise be Joy or Ann.

Do you think you would regret not using the family middle?

I am not currently expecting, but I wrestle with this as well. I think I eventually will regret not using a family MN for a future kiddo, esp since DD does have a family

This helps me so much. I'm usually not one to really care for other's opinions about names, but hearing so many prefer Joy brings me peace.

I love Miriam Elise. We did not go with a family name for DD and I don't regret it. I think it would bother me more to use a fn that I didn't love vs. going with a non-fn and loving it.
