Formula rules

I keep reading conflicting answers to this. If I make a formula bottle with, say, 6 oz and DS eats a few ounces only, can I put it back into the fridge? This is without the bottle having been heated. At night he takes it right out of the fridge.

    Most rules will say to throw it away if the prepared formula has been at room temperature for over an hour or if LO doesn't drink it all. Supposedly bacteria might start growing at that point. My personal choice is to refrigerate the unused portion and

  • Most say do not save leftovers......I don't never did. Not safe for LO
  • I save it in the fridge and use it with the next feeding a few hours later. G hasn't gotten sick from it and doesn't mind it being cold.

  • We do it for B.  It stays good in the fridge up to 24hrs. But we try to use it way before then.  He has never had any issues with them.

  • Once LO drinks from a bottle, we only use what he drinks within an hour.  Typically it's not an issue because he finishes his bottle.  But if he were to fall asleep or whatever we would throw the remainder away.   </P

  • I haven't read the other responses so this might be a repeat...

    After they have started drinking it should be discarded within an hour... I THINK this is because once they have drunk out of the bottle bacteria has been introduced to the mix<

  • Thanks! Ok so we did good. Haha. I have been throwing out whatever is left. I just didn't know if it was just if you warned the bottle that you had to throw away leftovers. Thanks!
