Umbilical cord/bath advice

I've been dreading another baby-hated sponge bath, and like, 30 mins ago, LO's umbilical stump fell off. (Eww, by the way!) I've read conflicting info on baths after the stump takes a dive. Think it's safe enough to bathe him "for real" tonight?

  • Our DDs stump fell off after a week, but there was still a little bit of scab. When we asked the doctor about bathing her, she sort of unfolded the skin inside the belly button to make sure that was healed then gave us the ok. We didnt worry about getting

  • I waited until it looked all healed up!
  • Doc said that once the cord fell off we can bathe her so she got a bath that night. I noticed a little bit of blood the following days but the doc wasn't concerned. And we only bathe her one time per week anyways.

    We bathed right after Luke's fell off and it took a little bit to fully dry out/stop weeping, but he was fine.
