labor/contraction?

Can labor start in your lower back? And could these kind of back pains be contractions?

Reason I ask is this week wed I lost my Mp. At my weekly apt the doc said I was 2 to 3 cm dilated and 30 eff. Yesterday I had a bloody show. Now I am having off and on lower back pain. The pain doesn't improve w changing positions and can get to the point I want to cry. Comes and goes like this. Could this be a contraction and should I start timing them. Thoughts
