wooh, talking induction

So today was my 39th week prenatal appointment. I had my doctor check my cervix and I am not dialated, not affaced, and no MP. My EDD is on the 5th. What I love about my doctor's office is that they try not to worry about induction until after the patient has passed their EDD. Well due to the fact that my cervix has dialated and I haven't lost my MP or anything she said that if I don't go into labor on my due date we'll have to talk about an induction. She said the farthest they'll let me go after my EDD is a week. I am a little nervous about this, but I am going to do my research. I'll do all the things that were reccomended to me to help labor come...though I know it's still 50/50 b/c he'll come when he's ready. I just really hope that he is ready to come either next week or the week after. I'm going to try nipple stimulation, walking, and intercourse. Does anyone have any other ideas that could help? If I am induced can I still have a natural vaginal labor? What are the pros and cons of induction?

  • I was just going to say exactly what PP said. Probably not the advice you were looking for, butI think the statistic is that 90 percent of babies will arrive by 41 weeks on their own. At 39 weeks, only 40 percent of babies will have come on their own.
  • Actually you ladies gave me wonderful advice Big Smile so thank you. I had also informed my Doula of what was discussed in my appointment today and she was nice enough to send me
