IUD?

If you are getting an IUD, which one did you choose and why? I'm trying to make up my mind between Mirena (the hormonal one) and Paragard (the copper one).

    I had Mirena and got pregnant on it. I chose Mirena though because the lighter period/less cramping effect whereas paraguard can actually increase cramping and bleeding. There is also a new one on the market I was offered during my contraceptives consult

    I actually just got Paragard yesterday at my 6wk check up. I went with this option because DH and I are on the fence about having a 3rd child, but we would want to space a 2nd and 3rd a little further apart than what we have now.

    Ugh.  Birth control.  I feel like there is no good option.

    i dont have one but at my appt today my dr recc paragard. he did warn that it increases the flow of your period by about 20% give or take, for what its worth. I dont know anything about MIrena though, i havent done any rsch on my own.

    I have had 2 mirena IUDs. I got the first one after DS was born, had it for the full 5years then got a second one. Once we decided to start TTC I got pregnant right away. While on them I did not have any periods which was nice. If we were planning on more

    I am planning on getting the Paragard. I really don't like hormonal BC for various reasons. My sister has the Paragard and she says that other than the heavier and longer periods, it's great.
