So I just found out yesterday that I will be having a c-section. Definitely not in the plan, as I delivered the twins vaginally and this is only one baby! I felt disappointed and blind sided since this just wasn't how I pictured things to go. But all I care about is a healthy baby, and after talking with friends and sleeping on it, I've made my peace with it. ![]()
Anyways, I just wanted to be as positive as I possibly can about the whole thing. We all know the benefits of delivering vaginally, but what are the benefits of a c-section? For those of us who are having c-sections no matter what, I thought it might be nice to focus on some positives, especially if this wasn't your first choice.
What have you come up with?
Here's what I've got...
I know my baby's birthday, April 3rd around 2:30! I can plan accordingly and even sleep in that day so I'm well rested for what is sure to be a very long day!
No hemorrhoids (unless you got them in pregnancy). I had TERRIBLE ones after pushing out my seven pound twins. I will never forget them. Ever.
My baby will have a nice, round c-section head.
My poor babies came out with the most awful cone heads you've ever seen! Poor things haha! Compounded by the fact that they both had to be vacuumed out, leaving this awful round mound on their heads! Of course that went away in a few days, but still. It will be nice not to have to force a hat on the poor thing so it doesn't scare people. ![]()
I had a third degree tear with my twins. I was terrified, and I do mean terrified, to poop. Back then you weren't allowed to leave the hospital until you did, and I honestly thought I would never be able to leave for that reason. I'm hoping a c-section will make that a little less scary.;)
Okay your turn.

BFP #1: 5/10/12; 5/22/12: pregnancy deemed not viable (probably CP)
BFP #2: 8/2/12; Due date: 4/14/13, DD born 4/5/2013

I would never want a vaginal delivery after experiencing a c section. It was AWESOME!! No labor, no waiting, no pain, easy recovery and babies with beautiful round heads and no scratches or bruising from passing through the birth canal.

While a c-section was definitely not my plan, I am trying to focus on the positive as well. I have had a few people tell me that they thought their c-section recovery was easier than their recovery after a vaginal delivery. I am definitely looking forw

Little less bleeding, I've been told from others who have experienced both, cuz they clean you out. I still felt like I bled plenty though, but my OB nicked my uterus a bit and I bled more.

I'm hoping that my section will mean I won't trash my pelvic floor as badly, so I won't wet my pants for the next year!
Good post!
Another postive one I got to add to my list, although I think my situation is a bit different from others... I live away from my entire family, so it is nice to be able to know exactly when the baby will make her arrival so my family
