Low cervix

Ok, I've been seeing all of the talk about how effaced and dilated everyone is, but what about a low cervix? Is this the -2 people are talking about (not that I know the scale)? I just returned from the doctor and he said my cervix was really low and he could easily reach it, but I don't know what that means. (Btw 1 cm dilated at the most and 50% effaced).

the -2 -1 etc is how far down baby's head is... no idea about the "low cervix" I'd try google.

If I had to guess I'd say doc is just commenting on the way you're built and that your cervix happens to sit particularly low. I really have no idea though... Never heard it before.

I found this saying that your cervix lowers before labor but there isn't much out there that I could find on the subject
