Just an FYI: I recieved my lab order/concent form from OB's office. So I decided to call the company (Sequenom) to confirm that $235 would be the most OOP I'd have to pay. The rep I spoke with said that it was an old policy but that they will honor it. She asked my for my OB's name and who she was affiliated with. Not sure why. So I will be having my blood drawn tomorrow.

I asked her how the bill would come and she said it would be for the full amount. From what I understand, I believe it's over $2000! She didn't tell me that but things I've read lead me to believe that is the case. She told me that a letter would accompany the bill that explains to call the company. Upon calling they will adjust your payment amount and honor the $235.

Just wanted to give a heads up to those thinking of having the screening done and are leary of the price. I know that we couldn't have paid over $2000, and the $235 is what appealled to us.

ETA: I would suggest calling Sequenom to confirm the pricing prior to having the bloodwork just to be sure!

    They changed the pricing recently and basically they subsidize based on your household income.  Verifi test right now is the only one with a flat rate which is about $200.

    I had mine done in February and called around that time (maybe late January at most), and wasn't told of any policy change, so it does sound pretty recent. 

    I was told the $235 amount was all I would be charged.  It's been just over a

    We didn't opt for the test but my boss and his wife are about two weeks behind me. He was telling me the other day that the insurance company is trying to bill them $1500. When I was considering it, I was told that it wouldn't be more than $250, even

    this makes me really nervous.  I am hoping to get this test but certainly can't pay $2000!    I'm hoping that somehow it will work out.  Is there a number to contact the company directly?

    When I had the test done the genetics counselor went over the billing with me.  I was told that they would bill my insurance $2700.  Regardless of what my insurance covers (or not) the most I will pay is the $235.  She said if I received
