I just got off the phone with the nurse regarding what to do next now that AF is here. She told me my RE is out of town this week so the other RE reviewed my file. That RE wants me to do the same protocol as the first IUI. So that would mean another natural cycle IUI. Its not that I'm itching to get on meds, and I did ovulate on my own, but I just thought that we'd probably up the protocol this time and not just do the same thing again. We had a 4million post wash for IUI#1 and I just feel like we have no chance if we just do the exact same thing again.
I asked the nurse just that and she said that they wouldn't start me on meds without a sit down appointment to discuss risks first, which I do understand. So the nurse said we can make an appointment for me to talk to her sometime this cycle and then if this next one doesn't work, then she may want to add in meds. I just wonder why we wouldn't have already talked about this before now. Seems like it would be hard to get in a sit down appointment after and BFN but before its time to start a medication.
To those of you that do O on your own, but are dealing with MFI, what has your IUI experience been so far?
Re: Plan for IUI # 2 & Question for those with MFI
DX: DH (30) severe MFI, severely low count & low motility
Me (32): all clear
Appt with Urologist 5/21/12: exam, ultrasound, bloodwork all normal.
Testicular Biopsy with TESE on 6/8/12. good sperm found! (left side only) froze sperm, failed thaw test
Orientation for IVF/ICSI on 6/13/12. Waiting for the green light following biopsy results...results show adequate sperm production both sides.
2nd SA 6/18/12: sample is "adequate for ICSI"
Plan: IVF/ICSI July 2012!
ER: 7/26/12. 15 eggs retrieved, all mature.
TESE/TESA/aspiration from epididymis, no motile sperm found
froze all eggs, the saga of praying for good sperm continues.
8/3/12: 2nd opinion from MFI uro on biopsy slides. Suspects "partial late maturation arrest."
Plan: more SAs, third biopsy/TESE with frozen back-up either from DH or DS.
SA 8/17/12: Zero sperm
SA 8/23/12: Zero sperm
9/26/12: SPERM FOUND! 15 eggs thawed, 12 survived and were ICSI'd, only 3 fertilized normally. Refrozen as embies and will thaw in Nov. Please survive and grow!
All 3 survived the thaw on 11/15/12!

I do O on my own and we also have low count. My DH has been on clomid to help raise his count. For our first we got pg on IUI 2, I was also on Clomid to get a stronger ovulation.
I am thinking about asking to
I know you say dealing with MFI only, and we're dealing with LPD on top of itsomy opinion may be moot ---but I was told to move ahead with medicated cycles even though I clearly ovulate on my own because it could strengthen my ovulation (LPD related),
