I'm a FTM-to-be so I am still just lurking here, but anytime someone says something like that to me all I can think is- so WRONG! Every mother has to deal with poop and cloth diapers are just so dang CUTE that i know it will be worth it. LOL.
Am I the only one who gets freaking excited over diapers?! Baby isn't here yet, and I know it's a bit more work but what could be better for baby than a mother who can't wait to get her into a teensy butterfly diaper?!
Of course my real reasons for choosing cloth go much further than something so superficial, and I usually reply with some "better for skin" "better for wallet" "better for earth" as my reasoning, but this is what keeps me smiling when they insist that I'm nuts.
Whats your favorite cute diaper cover? Any suggestions as to where i can look for cutesie ones that work well?
Re: "Don't bother trying, it wont last"
I think alot of skeptical friends/family are unaware what modern cloth diapers are like. My family all thought I was crazy and said "it wouldn't last" or "he'll be in Pampers in no time" etc.
I, like you, had so many reasons I was excited a
We got a lot of "you'll get tired of it..." and this just made me even more determined to make it work!!! I could HATE CDing at this point (which I dont't, it freaking rocks) and I would still be doing it. lol

They work better than disposables.
They are made to last. Think paper plate vs. real one.
I was frightened to commit so much money at first, now I'm thankful I'm not wasting it on disposables! It is WAY more convenient
My mom cloth diapered me and my brothers in the '80s when the only option for doing so were flats, safety pins, and rubber pants. When I told her our plans for CDing she was extremely supportive and constantly marvels at how easy it is now with the mod
The only person I haven't had to defend our decision to was my father! He's a big environmentalist, so he didn't skip a beat:
"You mean, you're not going to use those plastic kind?...But they're SO easy!"</span
I did disposables for 3 years with my son. While he had no issues with diaper rashes or leaks (just when we needed to go up in sizing), cloth is hands down so much nicer. It really isn't much more work than disposables, especially if you go
Like PP said, most people have no clue about modern CDs. I was actually guilty of rolling my eyes at the first recent person I heard of CDing. Until my cousin started doing it and showed them to me. I was on board right away, and MH w
