BF moms with oversupply

I am currently on ML and pump once a day for my freezer stash. I am getting an extra 6 to 8 oz a day! I am very engorged in the am, and if i dont pump before DS2's first am feeding, he practically drowns and gets very fussy bc i think it comes out too fast. So I pump.

If you had this issue, did your supply regulate when you went back to work? Or did it get worse? I struggled to EBF DS1 for over a year; I barely pumped enough to keep up with him and had less than 100 oz in my stash. I currently have 250oz in my stash! I know how to fix an oversupply, but I am wondering if I should just take advantage of it now if it will maybe fix itself when I go back to work. Thoughts? Advice?

  • I stopped pumping while on leave and focused on reducing my oversupply. It was just too painful and messy to encourage. I still was able to pump extra a work for my stash for about the first six months and am happy to report that it is going to last me

  • The more you pump, the more your body will produce.  Try to pump just enough to relieve the pressure and make it more comfortable for DS to eat.

  • I've only been back for a month, but I think pumping at work has helped regulate my supply.  I pump 15 ounces a day and it doesn't matter if I pump twice or three times at work, I get about the same amount.  L only eats 12 ounces so that is perf

  • I was pumping 30 oz at work in addition to nursing 5 or 6 times at home each day. I did it because I was so worried about losing my supply that it was hard to take a step back and really asses the realities of the situation.
