  My mom and my MIL do this. It's annoying. It used to bother me more in the very beginning when my mother bear instincts were in super high gear.

  My dad is the one who calls DD "my girl" or "Pawpaw's girl." It doesn't bother me at all, I think it's great how much he loves his grandbabies.

  My mil has called herself mommy several times. It got to the point where I had to tell her it hurt my feelings. So now I am a little defensive when she calls DD her girl. Trying to get over it.
